Everyone longs for a break, a breather, a calm moment to regain composure from the harsh affects of life and work. In Colorado, we take Recreation very seriously. Here are some of the Best of Colorado recreation option.

BEST PLACE TO PLAY HOOKY

DEVIL'S THUMB RANCH RESORT & SPA

Devil’s Thumb Ranch Resort & Spa is not just for weekend getaways.  Guests are enjoying the place during the week, even for one night. “We’re a great value mid-week and are seeing increased business due to the specials we can offer during slower, non-holiday periods,” General Manager Doug Libby says. “Our group business and corporate retreats typically meet mid-week too, and while technically not playing hooky since the boss knows and is typically with them, we applaud and welcome companies that understand the value of unplugging and stepping outside the daily routine.”

BEST PLACE TO MOUNTAIN BIKE

WINTER PARK RESORT

Winter Park has 600 miles of cross-country trails and two downhill bike parks. The resort will soon add 10 more miles of trails, thanks to last year’s U.S. Forest Service approval of a mountain bike trail expansion project. After the increase, Trestle Bike Park will offer 40 miles of downhill lift-accessed mountain bike trails. The approval came after two years of analysis and fine-tuning of Winter Park Resort’s original proposal. The Forest Service considered wildlife, watershed and public input in determining where to locate trails, choosing areas that not only enhance mountain biking but limit impacts to important wildlife and fish habitat.

BRECKENRIDGE SKI RESORT

Breckenridge is renowned for its five peaks, 2,908 acres, four terrain parks, a 22-foot Superpipe, 11 bowls, the highest chairlift in North America, family-friendly terrain and a world-class ski school. It helps that this is all situated above an authentic, hip mountain town with not only scenic views but 200 restaurants, bars and shops, as well as numerous year-round activities and events.  Parent company Vail Resorts announced it will upgrade the Peak 10 Falcon Chair from a four-person high-speed chair to a six-person high-speed chair, allowing more guests to access the intermediate and advanced terrain.
