Booming Boulder Business Boasts Philosophy of Transparency and Empowerment

Room 214 takes the top honor in the Digital Marketing Services category of the 2018 Top Company awards

Published:

Only willed into existence in the last three decades, digital marketing has dramatically changed the way brands and businesses use technology for marketing. Here in Colorado, we feature three experts in the field of Digital Marketing in our annual Top Company Awards. See who made the cut here:

WINNER

ROOM 214

BOULDER

As an Open Book Management company, Room 214 provides transparency, education and invaluable business skills to everyone from interns to owners. Key metrics from net operating profit to “client love” are reported on a bi-weekly basis during the company’s regular staff meetings so that every employee understands the fundamentals of running an agency, how they impact success and can identify opportunities to drive positive change. Because everyone is empowered, they learn valuable lessons in leadership and driving change.

“That is really around the concept that business is a game, and what that means is you need to know the rules and teach the rules,” co-founder Jason Cormier says. “You need to keep score, and you need to share in the success.”

Room 214 also makes a concentrated effort to give back to the community. It participates in the annual March of Dimes March for Babies walks; breaks into teams to hold competitive food drives, typically bringing in more than 600 pounds of food that’s donated to Emergency Family Assistance Association’s local food bank; and supports local artists by creating stickers from their works that are distributed through Art Sticks, an organization that promotes and encourages the development and public awareness of the visual and visceral impact art has on cultivating diverse communities.

FINALISTS

CHOOZLE

DENVER

Choozle provides a digital advertising platform that leverages detailed consumer data to power real-time programmatic campaigns across display, mobile, social and video mediums — all from a single, simple interface. The company consistently makes technological and product advancements every year, but still puts its people and developing team culture first. It has quarterly summits, team lunches, corn hole Fridays and a pet-friendly office. Each quarter, Choozle participates in a service event, such as serving more than 100 people at the Denver Rescue Mission, painting a dining hall and organizing clothing rooms at the Samaritan House Denver or hosting an advertising community ping pong tournament to benefit Samaritan house and Harvesting Hope.

REVENUE RIVER

GOLDEN

Revenue River develops and executes strategies for companies to grow their business through online channels by building total customer experiences wrapped around modern sales machines. Revenue River has disrupted the digital marketing industry with inbound marketing, growth-driven web design, sales enablement, omni-channel advertising, artificial intelligence and machine learning. The 9-year-old company was named the Top Inbound Growth Story of 2017 by HubSpot, a CRM, marketing, sales and customer service platform. The company’s goal is to achieve $10 million in annual revenue, at which point employees will share in 50 percent of earnings. Revenue River developed its profit-sharing plan as a growth-plus succession program that will scale as it grows.
