Congrats to our Top Company 2016 winner: Optiv Security

The company topped the "Technology" category

Nora Caley //August 26, 2016//

This year’s Top Company winners and finalists represent large and small, old and new, high-tech and high-touch businesses and organizations in 11 industry categories. Like Colorado itself, these enterprises have undergone changes, endured tumultuous economic times, and overcome various hurdles to achieve distinction in their respective fields.

To be eligible for Top Company consideration, companies must be based in Colorado or have a significant presence in the state. Deloitte, a longtime program sponsor, selects up to three finalists per industry category from applications submitted online at cobizmag.com. A panel made up of ColoradoBiz magazine’s editorial board and representatives from the business community then selects the winners based on financial performance or other relevant metric, achievement in one or more operational aspect of their business, and community involvement.

Read on to learn about our 29th annual Top Company Awards winners and finalists in the "Technology/Software/Communications" category.

TECHNOLOGY/SOFTWARE/COMMUNICATIONS

Winner:

Optiv Security Inc.

www.optiv.com

Opitv is a new company that boasts 30 years of experience. That’s because the cyber security provider was created by a merger of Accuvant and FishNet Security. Today Optiv focuses solely on cyber security solutions that help define strategy, identify and remediate threats, select and deploy technology, and achieve operational readiness to protect from malicious attacks. Optiv helps businesses, governments and educational institutions address specific projects, solve problems and develop cyber security strategy, in whatever way best suits a company’s needs.

Optiv has more than 1,500 employees, and the company encourages creativity and diversity in work styles. Depending on the nature of the job and client and business needs, employees m ay be able to perform work from alternate locations or with a non-traditional work schedule, minimizing rush hour times, gas consumption and pollution. The company also does community work. This year, in conjunction with the Military Support Warriors Foundations, Optiv donated a mortgage-free home to a veteran, donating camping gear to children in conjunction with outreach group City Wild, and hosted a two-week cyber security workshop with eight students and eight teachers in attendance. The company also created OptivU, a cyber security training program from which 56 graduates (including 23 veterans and three women) have earned certifications and gainful employment.

Optiv’s revenue went from roughly $1.1 billion in 2013 to nearly $2 billion in 2015, and projects similar growth for 2016.

“Optiv has grown into a market-leading provider of cyber security solutions and services, and we are proud to be headquartered in a state that has become an epicenter for our industry,” says Dan Burns, CEO of Optiv. “We are excited to continue expanding our business and meeting the security needs of organizations in Colorado and beyond.”
