Door to Door Organics

Three words from them, about them: Innovative. Quality. Sustainable.

You want the perfect apple: red, round, blemish-free, and you want it to be organic, and delivered directly to your door.

Trust online grocer Door to Door Organics to get it right.

“We take that responsibility seriously,” CEO Chad Arnold says. “If (customers) are not completely satisfied with the food we deliver or delighted by every aspect of our service, our customer service team will make it more than right, no questions asked. That’s what we call our Joy Delivered Guarantee. DTDO is striving to offer the best customer experience in the online grocery industry and has a net promoter score of 75.”

The Louisville-based company, which started delivering in 2005 out of a 300-square-foot garage in Boulder, now boasts customers in 30 cities across 12 states. Revenue of $3.2 million in 2009 grew to $34 million in 2014, and is expected to grow 43 percent over the next two years. Customer resources include its Shop By Recipe and meal-planning tools. As a Certified B Corporation, Door to Door donates thousands of pounds of food to the Sister Carmen Community Center and Food For Thought.

“The heart of our mission is to empower people to eat food that positively impacts their health, our communities, and the environment,” Arnold says. “We keep our environmental impact in mind in every aspect of our business and at every step in our journey to bring good food to customers, from the way we source products – from local, organic farms – to how we work to cut food waste and reduce the miles food takes to get from the farm to table.”

The secret sauce: “It’s our people and how much they care about the quality of their work and the quality of the care they give our customers,” Arnold says. “They’re a group of committed, engaged and passionate people who are driven to work hard and do whatever’s needed to deliver our customers high-quality, fresh food each day.”

AFW also houses the Junior Achievement Finance Park in its Thornton location, which fosters 8th graders through high school seniors as they learn about budgeting.

Seattle Fish Co.

www.seattlefish.com

The name says Seattle, but don’t let that fool you: Seattle Fish Co., the Rocky Mountain region’s largest supplier of fresh and frozen seafood, has been a Denver-based, family-owned seafood distributor since 1918. Each year, Seattle Fish Co. receives and distributes 10 million pounds of fish as near as Alamosa and as far away as New Zealand. The company distributes to more than 1,200 grocers and restaurants across the region and is the first Colorado-based company to be certified by the Aquaculture Stewardship Council. It is also the only company in the Rocky Mountain region to be recognized as a Monterey Bay Aquarium Business Collaborator.
