Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck has added Thomas J. Krysa to its Denver securities litigation department. Krysa brings more than 17 years of securities enforcement and white-collar experience and knowledge that will build upon the firm’s extensive securities litigation and regulatory practice.

Most recently, Krysa was the Associate Regional Director and head of enforcement in the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Denver Regional Office. In this position, he oversaw the SEC’s enforcement efforts across seven Western states.  Prior to that, he was a federal prosecutor for the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.

Krysa started in the SEC’s Denver office in 2003 as a staff attorney, became a trial counsel the following year, supervised the office’s trial unit beginning in 2010, and became the office’s enforcement head in 2014. While at the SEC, he litigated and supervised matters involving insider trading, financial fraud, offering fraud, broker-dealer and investment adviser misconduct, market timing, market manipulation and auditor negligence. Previously, at the Justice Department, he prosecuted criminal tax and other white-collar matters.
