RONALD WILLIAMS, 72

Chairman, the National Western Association's capital campaign

While Williams made his mark in the oil and gas business with Gary-Williams, his community impact on Denver goes far beyond the energy industry, first with the company's nonprofit arm, The Piton Foundation. He's focused much of his energy on philanthropy since the company's 2011 sale, serving on the boards of Children's Hospital Colorado, Denver Public Schools Foundation and University of Colorado Hospital.

Now he’s helping guide the redevelopment of the National Western Complex into an international agribusiness hub. Williams is trying to repeat his success raising private funds for the new Children's Hospital by seeking to take the $856 million National Western project from the drawing board to reality.
