All weekend

Ever dreamt of an escape? James and the Giant Peach is an exciting adventure story that has been brought to life this weekend on stage. The D.L. Parsons Theater is putting on a production of this classic Roald Dahl story, Friday and Saturday at 7:00 pm. Tickets: $7.50 for adults, $6.50 for students and seniors.

Come watch dancers hang from the ceiling and fly through the air at the 12th annual Aerial Dance Festival in Boulder. This showcase will be like no show you have ever seen, with world-class aerial dancers. Friday at 8:00 pm, Saturday at 2:00 and 8:00, and Sunday at 2:00 pm. The festival takes place at DAIRY Center for the Arts, with $25 tickets.

Friday

Andy Warhol’s art inspires viewers around the nation, and Denver’s Art District on Santa Fe is celebrating his birthday in a fun way-with Warhol-themed events throughout the gallery district. There will be birthday cake, so don’t miss out on your slice of the evening! All night on Friday, with free admission.

Come buy some books! The Rocky Mountain Book and Paper Fair features books that are new for you, old for someone else. The books being sold are used or rare, and they will be on sale from 5:00-9:00 pm at the Denver Merchandise-expo building. For anyone that has a love of books, you can’t miss this one.

Saturday

If you have ever wanted to know more about the wildlife displays at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, this tour is for you. Your kids will love learning more about the dioramas at the museum through amazing stories during the Secrets of the Dioramas Tour. The tour leaves from the insect exhibit, and is free with admission to the museum. From 2:00-3:30 pm on Saturday.

Enter a world of light and color this Saturday at the Lumonics Light and Sound Gallery. Come to dance, drum, relax, and take in the overwhelming sensory experience. The event begins at 9:00 pm, and tickets are $10 online, $12 at the door.

Sunday

Come to Invesco Field on Sunday for an ultimate day of music. The Vans Warped Tour is here in Denver for a full day of current bands. Gates open at 11:00 am, and rocking will continue into the night. Tickets start at $30.

Spend your morning or afternoon painting away your troubles, with a glass of wine in your hand. Canvas and Cocktails features different paintings each day, with step by step instructions on how to paint the picture of the day. Two different paintings are being taught on Sunday, so choose your favorite, and head to Cherry Creek. Admission starts at $30 for all supplies.

Coming up on Wednesday

Magic, comedy, and entertaining acts combine for an evening that will help cure your mid-week blues. The Magic Underground Magic Show will leave you wondering at the magic and laughing at the acts. The show starts at 8:00 pm at Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret. Tickets: $10.
