Light up your life with gratitude

Teri Karjala //February 7, 2013//

Even in the darkest of times with your business, and especially then, it is critical that you give thanks for all the wonderful people and things that you do have in your life. The law of attraction states that “like is drawn to like.” Therefore, the more you express your gratitude, the more there is to be grateful for. Not a bad thing to have too much of!

Share your gratitude throughout your day, either in your own thoughts, or share with others. End your day with a written or verbal list of everything you are grateful for. Here is a sample of my own written list, in the form of a letter to the universe:

My Letter to (the Universe):

My heart is filled with profound gratitude. I am grateful for stepping outside my comfort zone in completing my master’s degree, which gave me the knowledge, skills, and practice to help so many people who have come into my life.

I am grateful for my support system, which has been the backbone of my strength. I am grateful for my mastermind group, which keeps me on track, provides honest feedback, and holds me accountable to my actions. I am grateful for all that they have given me in their support and friendship throughout the years of growth and change.

I am grateful for all the mistakes I’ve made! They have humbled me. With each mistake, a beautiful gift has been unveiled to me.

I am grateful for the people who have criticized me (even the ones that I felt were unjust). It has strengthened me to be able to handle more and has allowed me to become more educated in those areas, improving myself even more.

I am grateful for all the technology at my fingertips. It makes my life easier to manage and helps me stay connected and be more efficient in touching lives all over the world.

I am grateful for the people who have “kicked me in the rear” to keep me moving forward when my faith in myself wavered. I thank them for cheering me on during the toughest of times, for “keeping the faith” in my behalf when I faltered, knowing that we can each further the success of others without taking anything away from our own victories or anyone else’s. I thank others for living in abundance around me and showing me the way.

I am grateful both for the “I-knew-you-could-do-it” people as well as the “you-can’t-possibly-do-it” people in my life. Each group has given me reason to succeed, providing me with the motivation to be true to myself no matter what.

I am grateful for my loving husband, who stood by me through the sleepless nights, the workaholic periods, the times of tears and doubts and success and joy, and I thank him most of all for being my biggest and proudest fan.

I am grateful for all my friends and colleagues whom I asked for support, which in itself took me out of my comfort zone.

I am grateful for opportunities that (I thought) I missed, because something better ALWAYS came up.

I am grateful for the special moments that I spend with my family that recharge me to my core.

I am grateful for the people who have taken a chance on me and had their lives positively impacted. I am grateful for all the possibilities that have presented themselves to me, and grateful that I had the courage to take action.

I am grateful for CHANGE. I have learned to take risks even when I didn’t think that I was “ready.”

I am grateful for all the “random” people, conversations, events, experiences, and moments that color my life and that are not understood by all. I am grateful for life itself, which has created a world that is somehow perfect for me, right here and right now.

I am grateful for all the possibilities that life has to offer each and every one of us. I love the element of surprise and the fact that we get to choose what we create.

Thank you,

Teri Karjala
