The law of attraction

Teri Karjala //March 25, 2013//

I am excited to see other professionals incorporating the principles of the “Law of Attraction” into their business. Whether you incorporate energy work, energy psychology, positive thinking, spirituality or simply a sense of conducting conscious business, you are essentially taking resources within yourself and applying them to your work. This process not only benefits you and your business but the world around you.

The law of attraction is basically the principle that like attracts like, which is another way of saying that whatever you focus on will expand. Thinking positive or negative thoughts to create positive or negative results is a simplified way to describe it, although there are many other factors involved in incorporating this process into your life.

Many people know the concept of the law of attraction from the popular film, “The Secret” (based on the book by the same name). “The Secret” is a great introduction to this concept; however, it does not address the millions of people who have “head-trash.” Head-trash is a term used to describe a thought or thoughts that block an individual from achieving their goals in life. It would be wonderful and ideal if a person could quickly manifest just by focusing on positive thoughts related to their goal. However, it is much more complicated than that and further reading, education, and practice is needed to fully implement this principle.

Below are some books that I would recommend to increase your understanding of the law of attraction and how it can work for you in the business world.

• “The Magic of Thinking Big” by David Schwartz
• “The New Psycho-Cybernetics” by Maxwell Maltz
• “The Success Principles: How to Get From Where You Are to Where You Want to Be” by Jack Canfield
• “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill
• “Wishes Fulfilled” by Wayne W. Dyer

In the many talks that I give, I almost always encounter someone in disagreement with the law of attraction. This is understandable; and quite frankly, I was one of those people until I started to learn more about this principle and how it works.

A great explanation of the scientific basis for the law of attraction is given by Dr. Joe Dispenza in his book, “Evolve Your Brain.” Dr. Dispenza describes how biology, physiology and quantum mechanics all play a very intricate and real role in this process. “Evolve Your Brain” is a worthwhile read for anyone with doubts about the scientific validity of the law of attraction and how the law works.

My own personal experience has become proof enough for me. I have found that by implementing this principle into my business, I am able to spend less time on marketing efforts and on weighing my choices. I have also found that I generally feel less stressed out at the end of my day. My business has become much more successful and continues to grow with less and less physical effort on my part. In short, life has become really easy in a lot of ways, which frees up energy to spend time on what is most important to me, my family.

I came across a congratulatory card that I had written to myself more than five years ago. I had sent it to myself in the mail and just kept it. I discovered it sitting in an old work bag, and when I read it, it took me back to that moment in which it was created. To my surprise, as I had forgotten all about the card, the wishes I had written then have been achieved today, every single one.

This, by the way, is a fun exercise to do. Send yourself a card with congratulations on the successful achievement of certain goals that you have in mind. I recommend thinking BIG!
