JG Management Systems is a government-support service contractor providing technical and environmental support across the country.

There is a vast need for what the company does because, believe it
or not, “government employees are actually quite overworked and
understaffed,” says Jerome Gonzales, president and CEO of JG Management Systems. “What we do is provide support at the right time in
the right place.”

Founded by Gonzales in Grand Junction 10 years ago, JG
Management Systems started out serving the Department of Energy, then expanded into the National Security Administration. Subsequent clients have included the Department of Defense, Denver International Airport, the U.S. Department of Urban Affairs and the U.S. Forest Service, among others.

Thus, while all of the firm’s clients are in the government sector, they represent diverse industries, giving JG Management Systems a measure of protection against a slump in one industry or another.

While the corporate offices are in Grand Junction, the firm’s total work force of about 81 is spread among 13 states. Asked about the firm’s growth over the years, Gonzales says, “Part of it is resiliency and part of it is tenacity of purpose. And a good share of luck. We’re very fortunate that the government is our client. We understand the government business, what the mission is and the folks who we support and how we can support that mission.”

Because JG Management Systems’ employee base is scattered around the country, so is its community outreach. The firms’ employees receive 40 hours of paid time off each year to participate in a cause of their choice. Employees have gone on church missions as far off as Africa, planted trees in downtown Washington, D.C., and served as national guardsmen or military reserves.

In Grand Junction, JG Management Systems is a major supporter of Riverside Education Center, which Gonzales describes as “a
learning center for underprivileged kids who can’t afford tutoring and enrichment programs they’d have to pay for.” Gonzales and his business partner, Nick Aranda, provided the seed money to start the center and continue to provide funding for it. Many of the company’s employees volunteer as tutors at the center. Since 2006, JG Management Services has provided more than $39,000 to the organization.

That fits JG Management’s stated goal of not only doing well, but doing good.

“The JGMS philosophy is People, Product and Profits,” the firm states in its Top Company submission. “The company values are built around respect for the individual, respect for the client, and respect for the community. The goal is to maximize pay, benefits, work environment and equipment for each employee, providing a work environment that enables employees to provide their level best at all times.”
