Common Ground: Air

Technological advances have significantly reduced air emissions from oil and natural gas development. Reduced emissions completion methods and equipment, otherwise known as green completions, enable companies to capture more methane gas during the time a well is being completed and brought on-line for production. While industry has developed these technologies and voluntarily adopted them, regulators have also moved in to make them mandatory. Emissions are down dramatically per unit of production.
Western Energy Alliance, founded in 1974 as the Independent Petroleum Association of Mountain States, is a non-profit trade association representing more than 480 companies engaged in all aspects of environmentally responsible exploration and production of oil and natural gas in the West.
