Citywide Banks CHARITY HAND-UP CONTEST Invites Community to Determine How $7,500 Is Split Between Seven Colorado Causes - Enter to Win Prizes Just for Voting on Facebook

 

 

DENVER, CO (March 17, 2014) – Now through midnight on March 31, 2014, Citywide Banks invites the local community to enter-to-win prizes and raise awareness for seven Colorado causes in its 15-day Charity Hand-Up Contest on Facebook. The public is invited to participate by voting for a charity nominee and sharing their support through Facebook and other social media.  The charity that receives the most votes on Facebook will receive a $5,000 cash donation from Citywide Banks. An additional $2,500 in donations will be split between the other nominees based on final vote standings. The public can enter to win one of several prizes by participating. The contest voting page can be accessed at www.CitywideBanks.com/contest.

Get Involved, Get Inspired
Each charity will be spotlighted on Citywide Banks’ blog and social media, and promoted at specific branches through a related employee contest. Supporters of each nominee are invited to comment on the Citywide Banks Facebook Page with personal testimonials about the charity. Follow Citywide Banks on Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn to catch all contest updates.

These Facebook contests are a fun, engaging way to shine a light on the wonderful work and ongoing needs of our local nonprofit organizations.”

50 Years of Community Commitment
Citywide Banks is a 5o-year-old, family owned and operated, bank focused entirely on the Front Range.  The bank has a deep rooted tradition of supporting hundreds of local charities through volunteering and financial contributions.  As part of its community outreach program, Citywide Banks is using its growing social media network to give an extra “hand-up” to outstanding Colorado nonprofits. Since September 2011, the Charity Hand-Up Contests on Facebook have raised awareness and money for more than 50 charities.

All Charity Nominees Get a Donation
• $5,000 cash donation – Charity with most contest votes
• $1,000 cash donation – Runner-up charity in final vote standings
• $750 cash donation – Third place charity in final vote standings
• $500 cash donation – Fourth place charity in final vote standings
• $125 cash donation – Fifth place charity in final vote standings
• $75 cash donation – Sixth place charity in final vote standings
• $50 cash donation – Seventh place charity in final vote standings

Public Can Enter to Win Prizes Too
The public is invited to participate in the contest by voting online at Facebook.com/citywidebanks. The voting form includes an optional entry into the voter prize drawings. Only one vote/entry is permitted per Facebook account. No purchase is necessary to participate. Voters can enter to win one of the following prizes when they cast a vote for a charity nominee:

How to Cast Vote on Facebook – March 17-31, 2014
Click on the “Charity Contest” tab on the Citywide Banks Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/citywidebanks. Users will need to log into their personal Facebook account to participate. If necessary, users can setup a free account in minutes by going to www.Facebook.com.  Users will also be asked to become a Fan of the Citywide Banks Facebook page prior to submitting their vote and prize entry.  Each Facebook account will be permitted one vote during the 15-day voting period. The voting form is also accessible through most mobile devices.

CANCER LEAGUE OF COLORADO - View spotlight article
100% Colorado. 100% Volunteer. Cancer League of Colorado’s mission is to secure the cure or control of cancer by raising funds to support innovative cancer research and cancer-related services in the state of Colorado. Because Cancer League is an all-volunteer non-profit organization, with no paid staff and no offices, 100% of the dollars raised through its fundraising activities is used to further this mission. A $5,000 donation from Citywide Banks would be applied to fund a Colorado cancer research grant, and would eventually be worth as much as $100,000 after it’s supported by additional funds from a larger national research institution.

CANINE PARTNERS OF THE ROCKIES - View spotlight article
Canine Partners of the Rockies raises, trains and places highly skilled assistance dogs with Coloradans who benefit from the support provided by a strong human/dog partnership. The result is greater independence, improved quality of life, unconditional love and tail wagging enthusiasm for people with mobility challenges. A $5,000 donation from Citywide Banks would go toward implementing an advanced trainer curriculum as well as educational and training materials for the community, clients and trainers.

CENTRO SAN JUAN DIEGO - View spotlight article
Under Centro San Juan Diego, a ministry of the Archdiocese of Denver, Bienestar Family Services exists to address the root causes of poverty through the provision of leadership and personal development, culturally relevant adult education, and family support services.  During 2013, about 6,000 individuals and their children received the following services:  GED preparation, English language proficiency (ESL), computer skills training, citizenship preparation, small business training seminars, legal information and resources in the areas of family, immigration, housing and employment, personal development workshops, tax preparation, tax preparer certification, Annual Latino Senior Health Fair, bachillerato (Mexican high school), financial literacy services, annual toy drive, and linkages to community partners for other needs not currently offered by CSJD.   A $5,000 donation from Citywide Banks would go toward supporting the services of the organization’s Bienestar Family Services program.

FOOTHILLS ANIMAL SHELTER - View spotlight article
Your support of Foothills Animal Shelter ensures a brighter future for homeless pets.  In 2013 alone, Foothills Animal Shelter adopted out 5,229 pets to their forever homes.  The shelter’s Foster Program gave round-the-clock care to nearly a thousand infant or medically-fragile animals. And more than 1,500 lost pets were reunited with their grateful owners.  Foothills Animal Shelter also offers such vital community services as pet licensing, affordable microchipping, spay/neuter and vaccination services, and humane education. A $5,000 donation from Citywide Banks would go to the Shelter’s foster program to help medically fragile animals that require special medication, supplies and diets.

HOME BUILDERS FOUNDATION OF METRO DENVER - View spotlight article
The mission of the Home Builders Foundation is to provide accessibility solutions and home modifications for individuals with disabilities and financial need through the collaborated efforts of the building industry. To qualify to be an HBF recipient, the applicant must demonstrate an accessibility and financial need. In addition, the recipient or immediate family member must own the home and the home must be located in the 8-county Denver metro area. A $5,000 donation from Citywide Banks would go a long way toward bettering our program and helping more recipients.

JEFFERSON CENTER FOR MENTAL HEALTH - View spotlight article
Jefferson Center for Mental Health helps thousands of community members each year struggling with life’s toughest challenges. We offer hope and solutions for people of all ages with services where and when you need us.  As the community’s nonprofit mental health center, we provide crisis counseling and support to help members of our community cope with tragedy and regain strength.  We are experts in children and family issues, serious mental illness, seniors, and suicide prevention.  A $5,000 donation from Citywide Banks would be used to provide free Mental Health First Aid classes to community members.  The class teaches community members how to recognize the first signs of a mental health issue or crisis, and provides them with hands on skills and tools to use until that person is in the care of a mental health professional.

RACHEL’S CHALLENGE - View spotlight article
Rachel’s Challenge is a powerful true story of a girl who knew that kindness and compassion was the key to reaching and impacting adolescents. Rachel Scott, the first victim of the Columbine tragedy, had a simple theory that one act of kindness could change the world.  Students are bombarded daily with bullying and negativity, and Rachel’s Challenge aims to overcome bullying with kindness. Based on Rachel’s life and writings, this unique approach has been shared with millions of students, parents and educators. You will be inspired to create an atmosphere of acceptance and awareness, learn to avoid clouded learning environments, and eradicate bullying, teasing and gossiping.  A $5,000 donation from Citywide Banks would go toward need-based scholarships for schools to help them bring Rachel’s Challenge to their community.
