Building on Memory
Time: 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Location: Denver Women's Press Club
Web Site:http://dwpconline.org/
Winner of the 2012 Colorado Book Award for Dances in Two Worlds: A Writer-Artist’s Backstory, Thordis Niela Simonsen has turned highlights from her creative non-fiction book into an hour-long multimedia show entitled Building on Memory.
Throughout her innocent 1950s Lake Erie childhood, Thordis Niela Simonsen never dreamed of writing a book or living abroad or restoring a house by hand. And she was long deterred by her mother’s obstinate will from pursuing the one thing she did dream of: becoming an artist. Eventually, all these became a part of her dream-like reality. Evocative and entertaining, Building on Memory is one woman’s soulful and inspiring journey told through Thordis’ own words, photographs and paintings. A conversation with the audience and book signing will follow.
The performance will be held at the beautiful and historic Denver Women’s Press Club (1325 Logan Street in Denver, 80203) on Sunday, February 24 at 4:00pm. Tickets are $15 at the door (by cash or check to “astragreece inc.”), or $35 including a signed copy of Dances in Two Worlds. RSVP appreciated: 303.321.5403 or info@astragreece.com.
The C.G. Jung Society of Colorado will also be presenting Building on Memory, with an introduction by Christine Chao, PhD, on Friday, March 1 at 7:00pm as part of its Spring lecture series. Details available at jungsocietyofcolorado.org.
