Build a Custom WordPress Website in 4 Hours from Scratch

Time: 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Location: Denver, Colorado

Web Site: http://www.meetup.com/Denver_WordPress/events/219056027/

In this 4 HR bootcamp we teach you how to create a custom WordPress website from scratch.

To register:

The website we create can be ideal for a law firm, a handyman, a therapist, psychologist, trainer...any type of business profession or service provider.

Normally, getting any kind of custom website for a business (that works on all mobile devices and smartphones and has your own Search Engine Optimization terms and descriptions and connects to all social media outlets) costs several thousand dollars to create.

An agency has to get contracts, outsource the work to overseas programmers, and cover their overhead expenses and time. And even then, most websites online today have no Google ranking, no blog, and don't take advantage of social media.

Here, in 4 hours or less, I will show you step by step, how to create a professional-level business website with your own SEO terms, guaranteed to work on all smartphones and tablets, with a blog, copyright-free images, ready for "prime time" by the time you leave.

We will be working from a free WordPress theme/template created by WordPress, so this is not for fixing broken websites that already exist, although you can take what you learn from this workshop and apply it to other situations.

What do you need to be ready?

• A self-hosted website hosting account set up with a reputable company such as GoDaddy or Blue Host. These two hosting providers have 24 HR tech support and free site back-ups and are very good.

• A domain name (such as www.myname.com) registered and directed to your WordPress database

• You must have a website address to go to such as www.mywebsite.com/wp-admin that you can go to to sign in with a username and password so we can start setting up the site right away. GoDaddy and BlueHost both have customer support that will either do this for you or walk you through the steps needed to get a hosting account, create a database, install WordPress into it, get your domain name and have it directed toward your database, and send you a registration e-mail to log into your WordPress set up account.

• If you don't have these steps accomplished, you can certainly come anyway, and observe, download our notes, and follow the steps again later when you get home
