Good article, Shawn. I like the points you made. It's so important to learn how to create memorable presentations...and it usually begins with remembering "less is more."

Mr. Froman, like you, I also prefer cash - so I hear your longing for the paper transactions of yesteryear. My hopes is that as a society we can do away with checks. And pennies. Vicki, I didn't know about the bank fees. I haven;t seen any on my statement...yet. Nordstrom has be doing the "email your receipt?" option for years now. Looks like other retailers are catching on. And I'm happy to hear that HL&TN; is still relevant - the heart of rock n roll IS still beating!

State of the state: eSports arena goes big
I recall in Vancouver seeing similar style gaming centres. One called Playdium. It went belly up big time. I see the difference though. These new concepts involve team gaming. Big difference. Most of the hard core gamers realize online isn't quite the same when you take lag into consideration. If you see the new Xbox One and PS4 Controller consoles it makes you wonder if the online play is going to threaten these gaming outlets. Technology always improves and changes. Less laggy online multiplayer for example. That said, the facts are Clutch Gaming Arena is making it work. Make money playing game? Who wudda thunk it! -Sid By Sid Drysdale on 2013 06 15
Inspiring. I'm only hoping of achieving some local success and these guys are full steam ahead. Congratulations on that. It does make me wonder about hiring more staff. I can't do it all.

Helen:
What a great story. I love reading and hearing these kinds of stories of optimism and how the quest for growth leads to success. This one shows that the entrepreneurial spirit and the drive for self development is alive in other cultures. It also demonstrates how the difference in economic and political climates can either hinder or encourage it to grow. I just wonder what your dad would have achieved had he had the opportunities here.

Thank you for a nice summary, Taylor. One thing I might add is that moving to a larger part-time staff will not help a company avoid the number of employee thresholds of the ACA. The Act counts FTE's - Full Time Equivalents - using a formula which takes into consideration total numbers of hours worked, not full time employees.

If I was you Laura I'd hang onto that vintage coat hanger. I mean who knows? - A mafia hitman from Federal Hill might have hung his trench coat on it! Have it dusted for prints. Some detective on the dole will do it for you - TRUST me.
P.S. keep writing! Your articles are good to the last drop!

Huey Lewis and the News was one of the most under-rated bands! They churned out some fantastic songs. I don't know much about credit cards, except that I have many and love to go shopping w/my hubby's money.

Thanks for this, it is something I've felt for a long time. Businesses used to care that employees were trained for more than just doing the one task. How else can you hire from within if you don't have well rounded people? It's not like it takes much more effort, and then the company is better off for having better people work there.
