Taking the “local” food concept to the extreme, ColoradoBiz Managing Editor Mike Taylor is attempting to live on only what he can grow in his Denver backyard, for one month – August. Follow along, starting May 27, as the crops grow up (he hopes) and the days till Aug. 1 count down. Along the way, he’ll introduce a number of Colorado businesses and entrepreneurs.

Hi there, my home page is http://www.google.com

Thanks for the feedback, Corncob. I am growing some corn even though I’ve gotten terrible results every year I’ve tried to grow it. Usually something comes trampling through it and demolishes it when it’s about 2 feet high. Plus it seems to require extra fertile soil that my garden hasn’t had in past years. Tomatoes have their drawbacks, which you point out, but at least they’re nutritious. For volume, I’m counting on potatoes. Yes, I’ve found out that you need a license to make vodka. Check back here tomorrow (or maybe Thursday) for a video with insights from Colorado Pure Distilling, makers of custom-label vodka. They’re real pros and they basically shot down my vodka plans.

Not sure why you’d waste garden space on tomatoes… sure they taste great if you can get them to ripen in time.  But they are the first to go in a hailstorm, have high water requirements, take up a lot of real estate and have low calories.  You’d probably be better off with corn.  And as far as vodka at home… you know it’s illegal right?
