CBCA pays tribute to professionals leading the way for arts and culture

The Colorado Business Committee for the Arts celebrated local businesses and outstanding leaders in the communtiy for their commitment to the arts at the 2017 Business for the Arts Awards.

The acknowledgements were broken down into five categories, including:

The EY NEXT WAVE LEADERSHIP AWARD is granted to a single young, enthusiastic professional leading the charge of Colorado's cultural contributions of the future.

Finalists included:

"I found out that my business could thrive by supporting community and supporting the arts," Khalatbari said, calling civic engagement an "obligation," and adding that, "It's not about the bottom line; it's about helping. It's about being apart of being something bigger than ourselves."

Judges explained they selected Stevens as a finalist, and later (spoiler alert … WINNER) for making the arts more accessible to young professionals through organizations and events including Denver Startup Week, Impact Denver, CityBuild and the Colorado Symphony

"We're not watering anything down," Stevens said. "We're providing a very inviting, comprehensible first step."
