The Singing Tree at Anythink.

Anythink Libraries are not your average libraries. The public library, which has seven branches serving the residents of Adams County, transformed ten years ago to become an “experience library.” On March 10, Anythink Libraries were honored by the Colorado Business Committee for the Arts (CBCA) at the Business for the Arts Awards for its activation of this transformation.

Through open studio space, interactive public art pieces and welcoming cultural programming, Anythink Libraries have inspired and facilitated creativity and continuous learning within its community.

“One of our core values at Anythink is ‘Everyone is creative,’ and we live this value by supporting the creativity of our staff and community,” says Stacie Ledden, Anythink director of innovations and brand strategy. “Libraries are critical institutions that help people follow their passions and live more creative lives.”

Anythink’s unique programming has included public art installations like The Singing Tree, which is an outdoor installation that uses light and sound to create an interactive experience; The Wish, a large dandelion sculpture made of 300 handcrafted paper seeds, and Life on the Eastern Plains, a mixed-media quilt that evokes the ethos of life on the prairie.

In addition to these installations, Anythink’s transformation includes a studio space that offers educational and cultural experiences to the community, a refurbished cigarette machine that distributes miniature pieces of art and more.
