Health Solutions

www.Health.Solutions

Pueblo-based Health Solutions provides services to more than 9,000 individuals annually. The company offers 24 programs, with a goal of enabling clients to experience productive and healthy lives. It offers the full spectrum of care for children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients in Huerfano, Las Animas and Pueblo counties.

Health Solutions began as a mental health clinic more than 50 years ago, and has since shifted its focus from strictly behavioral health to an integrated health-care approach, bringing behavioral and physical health together. There is a team approach to health care, with daily meetings with support staff, nurses, a practice manager, medical doctor, nurse practitioner and licensed behavioral specialist. The provider coordinates with community organizations including courts, law enforcement, local hospitals and medical centers, nonprofits, school districts, government agencies and other partners.

The organization offers employees a benefits package and company activities such as an annual staff luncheon, family picnic, staff parties with catered meals, tuition reimbursement, generous vacation, sick leave and holidays, career development through in-service training and seminars, wellness and healthy eating programs.

Health Solutions is renovating a large health-care facility on Pueblo’s east side, and also purchased 10 acres on the west side of the city to build another campus. Health Solutions wants to be a one-stop care provider, and is streamlining the doctor’s visit. Patients are now able to see their primary care doctor, meet with an RN care coordinator to identify gaps in their health, speak with a behavioral health consultant regarding any emotional or behavioral concerns, receive non-pharmaceutical help managing their pain, and even pick up their prescriptions, all under one roof. The organization has several goals, including developing a system of care that facilitates appropriate and timely services, creating an access system that does not discriminate between types of health conditions, improving the experience, quality and satisfaction of care, improving the health of its patients; and reducing the per capita cost of health care.
