Gateway Canyons Resort & Spa, a world-class destination in the heart of the American West, has appointed Stephen Johnson as general manager. Johnson has more than a decade of executive-level experience with expertise in strategic leadership, hotel and resort development, operations, sales, marketing, and revenue management. He will be responsible for all guest and hotel associate experiences at Gateway Canyons Resort & Spa, as well as the financial success of the property.

Before joining the team at Gateway Canyons Resort & Spa, Johnson served as a task force general manager at the award-winning Sante Fe, New Mexico property, The Inn & Spa at Loretto. Johnson also previously served as the general manager for Royal Palms Resort & Spa in Phoenix, Arizona, where he oversaw the luxury resort’s operations, leadership team, and sales. 

During his time in Phoenix, Johnson developed and executed several innovative solutions across the business.  Before his successes in Phoenix, Johnson grew his career at the iconic Ventana Inn & Spa in Big Sur, California, where he served as food & beverage director for three years followed by general manager for five years.  Johnson has also held leadership positions at Sea Island Beach Club in Georgia, The Lodge at Woodloch in Pennsylvania, Primo JW Marriot Star Pass in Tucson, and many more.
