Rob Applegate wins the EY Next Wave Leadership Award

Applegate won the award at the recent CBCA Business for the Arts Awards

Published:

While Rob Applegate’s day-to-day is heavily wrapped up in the realm of math and science, he has dedicated himself after hours to the creative economy in Denver through his service on a number of cultural and nonprofit boards. For his dedication and service, Applegate was awarded the EY Next Wave Leadership Award at the Colorado Business Committee for the Arts (CBCA) Business for the Arts Awards on March 10.

This award honors rising professionals who are leading the future of our cultural community.

Applegate kick-started his service to Colorado’s art community after becoming involved with CBCA’s Leadership Arts program in 2015, but has been deeply involved in the arts his whole life. “I’ve always wanted to be a well-rounded person,” he says.

And well-rounded he is. Applegate’s day job as the research and analysis director at IHS leverages his PhD in Applied Physics, but in his free-time, he serves on the boards for Think 360 Arts and Denver Museum of Nature & Science’s YP Committee. Applegate also previously served on the board for the Plains Conservation Group.

As a board member for these organizations, Applegate has played a vital role in helping the each entity navigate major transitions and build new collaborations.

Arts and culture are a vital part of Colorado’s economy, growth and future, which is why Applegate is dedicated to serving this community through board service.
