XAKEMA HENDERSON, 30

ASSOCIATE, BAKER + HOSTETLER LLP, DENVER

After serving as a judicial law clerk for Colorado Supreme Court Justice William W. Hood, Henderson joined BakerHostetler in 2015. She focuses on business litigation matters, including in the cutting-edge area of data breach class actions. Henderson was a key member of the defense team that successfully secured the dismissal of a federal data breach class action pending against a fast-casual restaurant chain in July 2017.

In addition to serving on the firm’s Inclusiveness and Diversity Committee, and being directly responsible for the hiring of at least one diverse attorney in the Denver office, Henderson was selected by the firm as one of two associates to serve as a member on the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity’s 2017 Pathfinders Program, a leadership program for mid-level associates and assistant general counsel with high potential for leadership positions in the organization. Henderson has been a member of the Paul D. White Scholarship Hiring Committee since 2015 and served as the Associate Supervisor for the 2017 Paul D. White scholar.

BakerHostetler’s Paul D. White Scholarship Program provides a scholarship and summer clerkship to law students of color. A former Paul D. White scholar herself, Henderson has experienced the program from the student and hiring attorney perspectives, and she provides valuable insight to Paul D. White scholars and the firm.

“As an attorney, Henderson listens to her clients, strives to understand their goals, and diligently works toward improving their situation,” says her colleague, Rosario Dominguez. “As a community activist, volunteer and civic leader, Henderson has an infectious attitude of optimism combined with a commitment toward effecting meaningful change that inspires all around her.”
