Holiday reservations in North American mountain destinations are up 38 percent year-over-year for the forthcoming winter season, spanning the stretch from December 21 through January 4, 2019, according to Ski.com.

With just 13 percent of holiday business booked as of now, these numbers are considered promising by industry experts.

"At Ski.com, we view this booking increase for the holiday season as a good sign for the ski industry moving into the 2018-19 season," says Dan Sherman, chief marketing officer at Ski.com.

The website's most popular North American resorts trending for this year's holiday bookings include:

  1. Breckenridge
  2. Park City, Utah
  3. Aspen, Snomass
  4. Steamboat
  5. Whistler Blackcomb, British Colombia, Canada

With early booking, travelers can take advantage of pre-season deals. Currently, several ski destinations in Colorado and across the country are offering limited-time lodging discounts during these peak weeks over the holidays. For instance, the new Limelight Hotel Snowmass is offering 15 percent booking discount if taken advantage of before September 1.
