Auden Schendler bets on winter in Aspen
Aspen Snowmass' vice president of sustainability works on climate change
AUDEN SCHENDLER, 46
Vice president of sustainability,
Aspen Snowmass
Since Auden Schendler joined Aspen Snowmass in 1999, the company has done everything from lighting retrofits to building a methane plant from a defunct coal mine to generate power for four ski hills, three hotels and 17 restaurants. Schendler has even testified before Congress on the impacts of climate change on public lands.
"I'm amazed at people's reluctance to wield their own power,” he says. “We all have it, whether we're a schoolteacher, a CEO or a governor, but few use it.”
