Community Concessionaires Called Upon for DIA's Great Hall
Details for the RFP process will be unveiled Monday, April 16
The team selected as the developer-partner for Denver International Airport's Great Hall improvement project will initiate its formal Request for Proposal (RFP) process to select and install new concession vendors. Squarely situated under the iconic Jeppesen Terminal tents, the space will be fully redesigned over the next four years, relocating and adding sophistication to the security process, expanding capacity, upgrade antiquated infrastructure and strengthening the customer experience.
The innovative design is intended to introduce a new travel experience that successfully embodies the culture of the city and region with global inspiration. A compelling and cohesive commercial plan aims to streamline the passenger experience from curbside arrival to the gate.
According to Ignacio Castejon, CEO of Great Hall Partners – the project developer – 61.4 million passengers and 19.7 million origin and destination emplanements descended on Denver International Airport in 2017 alone. The team was selected by DIA as the partner for the project, which will transform levels 5 and 6 within DEN's 1.5 million-square-foot. The renovation will establish 63,000 square feet of space for 50 commercial units.
"These ambitions reflect the attitudes and interests of the people whom this terminal will serve: a fast-growing population that is smart, well-educated and adventurous, many of whom are frequent fliers with long dwell times and have high disposable income," says Castejon. "Denver's passenger mix and demographics present a highly attractive customer segment for retailers, services and restaurateurs alike."
Details for the RFP process will be unveiled Monday, April 16, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the an informational event hosted at the Kimpton Hotel Born. The RFPs to be unveiled are for the fist 10 commercial units. The developer team will outline the RFP process and timeline in a short presentation and take questions from attendees during the event. The online application for the RFP process will open here at the end of the program.
Great Hall Partners hopes to strike a delicate balanced food and beverage operators alongside high performance retail brands. The team is encouraging minority and small business participation.
