The managing director and curator at Metropolitan State University of Denver's Center for Visual Arts was recognized for the Colorado Business Committee for the Arts' 2018 Cultural Leadership Award. Cecily Cullen, a graduate of CBCA's Leadership Arts program, is an enthusiastic advocate for the arts, fostering dialogue and civic engagement through creative outlets.

"I lead the creative and strategic direction of the art center, which has given me a lot of opportunity to respond to what's happening in our community and also worldwide," Cullen says.

She started at the center 16 yeas ago as a volunteer, also dedicating time to the board of director for the Cherry Creek Arts Festival, Wonderbound Dance Company, the Colorado Attorneys for the Arts and more.

"The leadership arts program was a great opportunity for me to not only learn how to serve on a board but to learn how to build a board," Cullen says. There, she has found and recruited a number of active board members for her organization over the years.
