Derek Conn Secures $60 Million Refinance for Colorado Technology Center

Executive vice president and partner, Etkin Johnson Real Estate named in the class of most influential young professionals in Colorado

Since joining Etkin Johnson three years ago, Conn has managed more than $400 million in capital transactions. In his first year, he secured a nearly $60 million refinance for the firm’s Colorado Technology Center portfolio, working with one of the largest privately held commercial real estate financial intermediaries in the U.S. Later that year, he managed the sale of the Retreat at the Flatirons for nearly $95 million, making it the most expensive per-unit multifamily sale in the Denver metro area at the time. Most recently, Conn has been instrumental in raising the capital for a new 77-acre mixed-use development in Colorado Springs called The Gateway at InterQuest, which he envisioned as low density for the area, allowing residents to enjoy both open space and a neighborhood feel without being on top of one another.

“As the firm’s youngest executive vice president and partner, Derek’s financial and business savvy is comparable to that of a seasoned veteran,” Etkin Johnson President David Johnson says. “He understands that he’s not just buying, selling and developing properties; he’s creating opportunities for Coloradans to thrive.”

With a strong desire to support disadvantaged youth, Conn is a board member of the Blue Sky Fund, which works with Peak Learning Solutions to award full college scholarships and tutors students for college entrance exams, as well as private college counseling and assistance with the application process.
