Emergenetics International, a provider of professional development solutions, announced that Dr. Geil Browning is assuming the new role of founder and board chair. She has appointed Marie Unger to the position of Chief Executive Officer. Unger previously served as president of Emergenetics International and the Student Teacher Emergenetics Program (STEP). In her new role, Unger will assume day-to-day leadership of both companies as well as serve as a member of the Board of Directors.

Dr. Browning founded Emergenetics International in 1985 and had served as its Chief Executive Officer for more than 35 years. “Starting and leading the company for more than three decades is one of the greatest accomplishments of my life,” Browning says. “I’m proud that it has grown into a global success with offices, partners and Associates around the world.”

“I have the utmost confidence in Marie to lead the company forward,” Browning says. “She is a talented leader who has a tremendous passion for helping people better understand themselves and use self-awareness to transform their relationships at work and at home.”

“I know I speak for everyone in the Emergenetics International family in thanking Geil for her extraordinary leadership, vision and compassion,” Unger says. “I am honored to take on my new role and guide the future growth of the company. I truly believe that we can revolutionize the way people connect with one another.”

Prior to joining the company in 2013, Unger was a teacher, school principal, human resource director and director of elementary education for Douglas County School District (DCSD), the third largest school district in Colorado. She received numerous honors from the State of Colorado, and 5280 Magazine spotlighted her school as one of the Top Elementary programs in the state. While at DCSD, Unger successfully implemented Emergenetics and STEP with educators and district leaders to support teacher development and student achievement.

Unger recently led the conversion of the company’s signature workshops and Associate Certification program to a virtual delivery model to support the many organizations around the world that have shifted to remote work. Companies can access Emergenetics programs online to empower their workforce to reduce miscommunication, sustain productivity and promote engagement, no matter where their team members are working.
