Alton Brown Live

Time: 7:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Location: Pikes Peak Center

Web Site:

With his upcoming tour, Alton Brown brings his brand of quirky humor and culinary-science antics to the stage.  The two-hour show is a unique blend of stand up comedy, food experimentation, talk show antics, multimedia lecture, and, for the first music.  Audience interaction is strictly enforced throughout the evening, though if you’re called upon as a culinary assistant you’ll definitely want to take the lab coat Brown offers, as things tend to get messy.  Brown has worked his weird magic on live audiences across the nation for over a decade but this is the first time he’s actually hit the road with a live tour.  The entire family will have a blast, especially as you sing along with Brown’s soon to be hits “Airport Shrimp Blues” and “TV Cookin Ain’t Like No Other Cookin”.

Night with a Futurist - Bringing New Tech to Market

Time: 4:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Location: DaVinci Institute, 511 E. South Boulder Road, Louisville, CO 80027

Web Site:

Pioneers rarely discover what they set out to discover.  In 2003, Wil McCarthy founded The Programmable Matter Corporation to explore the uses of electrically tunable quantum dots.  Three years later, he had somehow co-invented a liquid-crystal-based smart window film that tints when it gets hot, and found himself in the glass business -- one of the oldest and most conservative industries in America.  Hardly where a science fiction writer and technology entrepreneur would expect to end up!  The company name was changed to RavenBrick (long story), and Wil's invention is now in production.  Join us as Wil discusses the long (and often grueling) arc from earliest concept through construction of an actual factory.
