The Mover

Jeff Suffolk

35 | President
Human Movement

Jeff Suffolk saw a gap in the fitness world, so he decided to fill it by creating Human Movement, a company that provides Active Entertainment through non-competitive events such as The Zombie Run, Dirty Girl Mud Run and The Ugly Sweater Run. The company donates more than $150,000 to local and national charities annually, while offering free local events with proceeds going to charity. The Louisville Turkey Trot, for example raises $20,000 in cash and 19,000 pounds of food for local shelters. Suffolk is working on a project to bring at-risk youth to the mountains to teach them outdoor skills, healthy living and personal accomplishments.

Biggest achievement

“Growing the company and all the infrastructure that comes with that. We only had two employees and grew to almost 100 overnight, so learning how to run a hyper-growth company when there’s no manual for it.”

Making an impact

“Human Movement has shaped this new industry called ‘Active Entertainment.’ We’ve created a platform for adult activity programming around the country.”

Role models

“I always look for advice or inspiration from other entrepreneurs. It’s a special breed of people. I don’t have a single person to look to for all the answers because I don’t know that exists.”

Best advice

“There is no manual. You need to trust yourself.”

Off-duty

“Family first for sure, but we practice what we preach. We do a lot of outdoor activities.”
