Jobs and infrastructure: Top priorities for Colorado Springs mayor
John Suthers moves from attorney general to Colorado Springs mayor
COLORADO SPRINGS MAYOR JOHN SUTHERS, 65
Suthers served as the Attorney General of Colorado for a decade before returning to his hometown as mayor in 2015. He campaigned on job creation and infrastructure improvements and made some serious inroads in his first year on the job to fulfill both promises.
Case in point: Suthers has collaborated with Pueblo on stormwater infrastructure and pushed for the widening of I-25 north of Colorado Springs, and the city's unemployment dropped below 4 percent in 2016 as 7,700 new jobs were created.
