StickerGiant was born in a basement in the wake of the 2000 election when John Fischer hocked a generic "He is not my president" bumper sticker. That led to brokering stickers, then StickerGiant went into the printing business in 2012.
Ever since, the company has grown around 30% a year, making its moniker increasingly apt.
Now 65 employees strong, StickerGiant prints custom stickers and labels for customers all over the world. "We acquire 500 new customers a week," says Fischer, 53. "Next year, we'll be just under $30 million in sales" – or more than 100 million stickers and labels in all.
Label sales have recently eclipsed sticker sales. "About 60 percent [of sales] and growing are product labels," Fischer says. "We're really solving problems in that space."
Then there's the fun stuff: The company produces a podcast, Stickers on the Mic, as Saul the World's Largest Sticker Ball makes the rounds at local events. Fischer says Guinness-certified Saul weighed more than 300 pounds at press time and is constantly growing, one sticker at a time.
Fischer's goal as CEO: He says he wants to overhear Longmont locals saying, "I hear that StickerGiant's a good company to work for."
That means giving people both room and support to succeed. "It's about allowing people to collaborate," he says. "It's not about foosball."
