Buena Vista Colorado’s Recreation Department provides a wealth of outdoor recreational opportunities for residents and visitors! At the heart of the town lies the Arkansas River,  which offers excellent opportunities for fishing, surfing, and whitewater rafting. With its rapids ranging from Class II to Class V, the Arkansas River is a popular destination for whitewater enthusiasts of all levels and interests! The Recreation Department collaborates with local outfitters who offer guided trips and lessons for all skill levels. In addition, the department offers a variety of over 75 programs and events,  including youth sports leagues,expeditionary programs, and cultural events, to encourage active living and connection in the community!
