When he joined Weifield Group Contracting in 2002, Seth Anderson and his business partners were working out of a basement. Sixteen years later, Anderson is leading the third-largest electrical contracting company in the region. In a field that isn't exactly known for innovation, Anderson leverages technology to advance his firm's operations; Weifield, for example, was one of the first to utilize LiveCount estimating systems and Trimble robotics to unify workflow, saving time and money.
"You can't do anything without the right people – or the right relationships." Anderson says. Whether he's engaging vendors and subcontractors or collaborating with one of Weifield's 520 employees, this top-ranking officer always encourages "crucial conversations," he says, adding, " A lot of people avoid conflict, but sometimes you need it to build trusting relationships."
Anderson is thoughtful, too, about moving experienced employees – those aging out of construction – into in-house jobs – to train the next generation of electricians.
His unique approach to relationships has gained him recognition from a variety of organizations, including the Young Presidents' Organization and the Association of General Contractors, where he serves on the board of directors.
