Local manufacturers  revealed their collective industry pain points at the 2017 Made in Colorado Forum and Awards, an annual event that attracts the state's greatest goods and their makers. In particular, the recruitment and maintenance of work force were cited as the biggest challenges for the sector, especially because of the booming economy, resulting in low unemployment in the state.

"Our challenge is filling those manufacturing and installation jobs," said Phil Worth, vice president of marketing at Tuff Shed, Denver-based manufacturer and retailer of storage buildings and garages.

President of CAMA, Tim Heaton echoed the sentiment, noting, "It's challenging to not just hire good, skilled workers, but it's difficult to keep them."

At the event, filmmaker Jesse Barlow captured some of the highs and lows of industry members.
