Maria Empanada Announces Fourth Location

The Argentinian hand-held fare is in high demand in downtown Denver

Set to open in September, local eatery, Maria Empanada will launch its fourth location in new development, Riverview at 1700 Platte Street, taking up 1,975 square feet of the office building that will house British Petroleum's U.S. headquarters. The edible brand's growth follows a cash infusion of $3.5 million announced last year from local venture capital firm, Colorado Impact Fund.

This urban stretch has evolved considerably over the last two decades, since the once-warehouse heavy section of town was converted into a more livable, walkable retail and residential corridor.

In her pursuit of a distinctive brand experience in each of her cafes, chef-owner of Maria Empanada, Lorena Cantarovici allowed the new space to reflect the area's industrial history while incorporating high design and sustainable features. She shares that she is selective about which areas she sees her growing brand moving into.

The ground-floor restaurant, specializing in hand-held, hand-folded sweet and savory pockets will be imagined by Cadence Design Studio, the same firm that planned and executed the other three cafes. The newest outpost will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and will feature an espresso bar as well as boozy beverages.

The fourth installation built out by Jordy Construction will sit in class A office space that includes street-front retail and underground parking. Alongside BP Lower 48 will be Workvia Inc.'s expanded Denver location.

"Maria Empanada, as a trusted local restaurant and a proven brand will not only be an amenity to the employees in our building, but also to the surrounding office and residential neighborhoods."

Originally launched in 2011, Maria Empanada was named one of the "8 Breakout Brands of 2018," by Nation's Restaurant News earlier this year.
