2016 Kauffman Index: Startup Activity report ranks Denver third among U.S. cities for entrepreneurship

Metro Denver recently ranked ninth among the 40 largest U.S. metropolitan areas for startup activity, with 360 people out of 100,000 adults becoming entrepreneurs each month. That's according to the 2016 Kauffman Index: Startup Activity, a report that also ranked Denver third among U.S. cities for fostering entrepreneurial growth.
It should come as no surprise that two of the top fields for startups in metro Denver involve tech and beverages.
According to the Metro Denver Economic Development Corp. IT-software posted the top job growth of any industry for 2015-2016, at 9.4 percent, while the beverage category enjoyed the highest job growth of all industries from 2011-2016, rising 28.1 percent in that period.
