Senior Vice President | KeyBank
Michael Walters’ branch bank looks nothing like the one grandma used to visit. His financial wellness center model includes no bank tellers. Instead, employees act as trusted advisers who focus on the financial strategies of their clients rather than basic transactions.
“It’s not a stretch to say that Mike Walters is a change-agent for retail banking,” KeyBank Colorado Market President Michael Katz says.
Under his leadership, Colorado was one of just two KeyBank states to try the new model, and its success has led to a nationwide rollout. In addition, Walters leads 23 loan officers and two managers in mortgage banking across three states and oversees a retail banking team of 350 people and a $1.7 billion balance sheet.
In his spare time, Walters serves on the boards of the Colorado Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Warren Village. He is also an active supporter of the Mi Casa Resource Center.
