CEO of the Year finalist, Richard Lewis earns recognition for his company's economic engagement, cost performance and more

Richard Lewis spent 10 years coming up with technology solutions for the Air Force. But his jump from the military to the private sector coincided with a downturn in the tech industry, and he soon tired of bouncing from company to company.
In 2002, RTL Networks Inc. was born. It now boasts 150 employees across 17 states. Lewis and his company recently were recognized as the 8(a) Graduate of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration for the expertise of RTL's management, recognition of the company's special achievements and excpetional past performance record, cost performance, innovation services and dedication to economic engagement of disadvantaged communities.
Lewis, who holds both an MBA and a master's in computer systems security, joined the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City's Denver Branch Board of Directors in January 2012 and became branch chair this year.
A former chairman of the Colorado Black Chamber of Commerce, Lewis co-founded its Chamber Connect Leadership program, which helps support talented minority professionals with 10 months of training, networking and community involvement.
