NINE dot ARTS and Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) will convert an ordinary office lobby into a pop-up, artist-in-residence studio called Studio 1515 from Nov. 12 to Dec. 7 at 1515 Arapahoe Street, also known as Park Central.  Emerging artist and graduate student at the University of Colorado at Denver’s College of Architecture and Planning Adam Buehler will work Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 4 to 6 p.m. to create a site-specific painting for a plaza-level location in the building.

NINE dot ARTS worked with JLL to provide Buehler with in-kind, on-site studio space for the project. Buehler will showcase his intuitive artistic process on the building’s ground floor facing Denver’s 16th Street Mall for a behind-the-scenes view of how art is made. 1515 Arapahoe tenants as well as the general public will be invited to witness the painting’s creation, chart the painting’s progress and engage in Buehler’s artistic process with the hashtag #studio1515denver. Using his signature bold, expressive, geometric and abstract style, Buehler will transform a reclaimed, nearly seven-foot wide wooden panel into a painting.

This collaboration marks the third major work NINE dot ARTS has commissioned from Buehler and is the first of these commissions outside a hospitality or residential setting.

About Adam Buehler

Adam Buehler is an emerging artist living and working in Denver who also currently studies architecture at CU-Denver. For Buehler, the power of abstract art lies in its ability to welcome viewers and allow space for their interpretations. Buehler’s process–the action of creating harmony on the canvas–is just as important as the finished piece.  He never starts a painting with an idea in mind. Instead, it evolves as he paints.  He allows the painting to guide his movement until an environment has been created where new image and pattern combinations are revealed to the viewer slowly over time.
