For a woman to be a successful business leader, many believe she must be heavy-handed, confrontational and otherwise difficult to work with; however, during my 25-year career in corporate America – and now a business owner – I've found more success in a much different way.

I have learned that leadership works best when it communicates agency, development and cooperation in lieu of threats and negativity. My mantra is

"Use more sugar than viegar"

and it has helped me maintain my trajectory in the world of business and stay the course through challenging economic and political climates.
