Exploring Colorado’s Energy Transformation — 2022 Energy Report

In 2012, ColoradoBiz began its special Energy Report to spotlight the state’s ever-evolving energy industry, which is so clearly intertwined with the environment. On one hand, it’s amazing to see how far we’ve come in 10 years. At the same time, some issues haven’t progressed as predicted.

Outside of Colorado, it’s no surprise (or accident) that the world’s richest person, Elon Musk, owes most of his fortune to electric cars, a business intent on disrupting what we drive — and the energy source to power it. It’s noteworthy that another two of the world’s richest people, Warren Buffett and Bill Gates, are heavily invested in both traditional and cleantech industries.

Our goal is to provide Coloradans and business leaders with accurate and unbiased information about the energy industry, its impact on the economy, its work to protect our natural resources, legislative issues, and the innovative technologies that further our energy independence.

The list of topics can be daunting, and as we reached out to experts, it appears we may only be scratching the surface. All agree a major transformation is underway. The door to our readers always remains open, and we invite feedback and suggestions on topics for this regular special section.
