Craig Henderson has become a go-to source as a cannabis expert

Craig Henderson

CEO | Extract Labs | Lafayette

Henderson, 38, was working as a senior sales engineer for a CO2 extraction equipment manufacturer when the recreational marijuana industry was born.

An Army veteran with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering, his interest in the medicinal application of cannabis stemmed partly from his deployment in Iraq as he noted the benefits CBD could have for fellow veterans. From his garage in 2016, he began extracting hemp into an oil, and soon thereafter, Extract Labs was born.

Today, the 45-employee maker of CBD products is thriving, having nearly doubled revenues from 2018 to 2019; Henderson has become a go-to source as a cannabis expert.

One of Extract Labs’ biggest challenges has been keeping up with its own growth. The company is rapidly outgrowing the two buildings it leased in Boulder 18 months ago, so in the coming months it plans to purchase a larger building that can accommodate all operations.
