Denise Weaver bought her soap-making business from the founder in 2008.

Smart by Nature soaps contain no parabens or synthetic chemicals, using essential oils for scents and natural and organic ingredients wherever possible.

Top-selling soaps include Lavender Comfort, Eucalyptus Awakening, and Sea Clay Purification.

Smart by Nature also makes candles, body butter and other products, and everything is in sustainable packaging.

The new shampoo and conditioner bars do just that in two varieties: rosemary blend and sweet orange. “My latest push is to get rid of plastic bottles,” Weaver says.

Weaver wears a lot of hats running Smart by Nature along with a partner-in-training. “I do most everything myself,” she says. “You have to be really organized and plan way ahead.”
