Macs Adventure, An Award-winning UK Travel Company, Opens US Office in Colorado

The award-winning UK tour operator and world’s number 1 self-guided, active travel expert’, Macs Adventure, which has been serving US customers since 2017, has decided to plant roots by opening North American headquarters in Denver. The company advocates and enables self-guided travel as a positive force for people and the planet.

The new Colorado office will employ a team of 22 members in the 2,400-square-foot space located at the Posner Center for International Development in Denver’s popular Five Points neighborhood. The new space serves as Macs Adventure’s third office outside of their Glasgow headquarters and the Saarbrücken office in Germany.

Founded by CEO Neil Lapping in Glasgow in August 2003, the idea was simple and felt brilliant; to offer an alternative to huge coach tours and offer guided walking tours in Scotland. Neil soon realized people were not interested in walking with a guide around the country. Instead, they preferred to do self-guided tours. With that discovery, Macs Adventure pivoted to providing quality self-guided experiences from understanding what people want from their adventures.

Macs Adventures is powered by a passionate team of walking and cycling enthusiasts and offers accessible, affordable options for all levels of walkers and explorers. To date, they have served over 200,000 customers, covered 2,340,000 miles, and employ over 150 staff members worldwide.

“When I started this company from my flat in Glasglow, I had no idea the community that would be built around the adventures that we have embarked on. We will soon celebrate our 20th year anniversary from the first time I took clients on the West Highland Way and a lot has changed and evolved since then, but what’s clear is the demand for this type of travel. We see Denver as the perfect fit for our mission and values so it will be a seamless integration,” says Founder and CEO, Neil Lapping.

Since its inception in 2003, the goal at Macs Adventure has always been to positively impact people’s lives and the planet through transformative, active travel experiences and that mission remains as relevant today. The 2023 travel catalogue offers more choice than ever, with an inspirational range of self-guided itineraries allowing travelers to explore the world at their own pace.

“We are so excited to establish ourselves in Denver, CO with our North American headquarters and join the growing Colorado outdoor industry. Macs Adventure has ambitious goals, and the Five Points area is the perfect place for us to spread our wings,” says US Sales Director Jasper Verlaan.
