Tammi Holloway has been named CEO of The Foundation for Sustainable Urban Communities. She will assume the position on Jan. 1, 2021.
Holloway had been serving as interim CEO since the unexpected death Feb. 27 of the foundation’s CEO Landri Taylor; she was board chair for three years prior to taking the interim position. King H. Harris assumed the position of chairman of the foundation which was founded in 1990 to write the redevelopment plan for Stapleton, Denver’s former airport.
“I am pleased to announce Tammi Holloway as our new CEO,” said King Harris. “She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will be most valuable in guiding the Foundation into the future.”
Holloway has worked for 24 years in several capacities on the redevelopment of Stapleton, Denver’s former airport. For the past six years, Holloway has been president/CEO of SDC, the private, non-profit created by the city of Denver to lease and sell Stapleton property after it closed as an airport in 1995.
She worked closely with Taylor which allows her to maintain stable continuity as the organization moves forward. She said she is excited to step into the new role.
“I am thrilled and honored for this wonderful opportunity,’’ she said. “The talented and committed staff and I are determined to continue working diligently on The Foundation’s initiatives to advance the principles of Stapleton’s redevelopment plan.”
Holloway also serves as the President/CEO for SDC Services Corp. which provides management services to SDC, Stapleton Design, Inc., and Park Creek Metropolitan District. Prior to being CEO, Holloway was SDC’s general counsel and vice president of operations.
Holloway earned her law degree from Samford University in Birmingham, Ala. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, Ga. She is also a graduate of Denver’s East High School.
The Foundation for Sustainable Urban Communities (formerly the Stapleton Foundation) was founded by oilman and philanthropist Sam Gary in 1990 to write the redevelopment plan (aka The Green Book) for Stapleton, the city’s former airport. Work began in 2000 to convert Stapleton into a New Urbanism project of mixed-use residential, commercial and open space now home to 30,000 residents. The Foundation works to fulfill the development’s responsibility laid out in the Green Book to promote and nurture lifelong learning, sustainable and healthy living, alternative transportation and affordable housing.
