In a job market with a record-breaking 2.6% unemployement rate, company culture is of the utmost importance for Colorado employers seeking outstanding employees. Which is why each year, ColoradoBiz, in partnership with ICC: Innovate. Coach. Consult., seeks and awards the companies (small, medium and large) that go above and beyond to culivate company cultures worth working for. These three companies – one winner and two finalists – represent the Best Large Companies to Work for in Colorado.
Similar to the grips it manufactures for digital devices, the perks and benefits offered at PopSockets are innovative and hard to resist. At each of the PopSockets offices – in Boulder, San Francisco, Singapore, Hong Kong and Finland – the company’s diverse group of employees is tasked with establishing their own distinct workplace culture.
At the Colorado headquarters, employees prioritize health above all else. Canine companions can join their owners at a scenic office overlooking the Flatirons, where an on-site gym, yoga studio and weekly exercise classes make it easy to stay fit while meeting the demands of a fast-growing company. Because PopSockets understands that work-life balance promotes health, it offers four weeks of paid vacation plus birthdays off; the company also refunds half of all vacation used on medical leave. In addition to traditional corporate social responsibility efforts – paid time off to volunteer, for example, and 100 grips per person per year to donate – PopSockets empowers consumers to use its products for good through its Poptivism program, whereby anyone can create a custom grip linked with an accredited nonprofit of their choice. Once created, 50% of all sales from that grip go directly to the affiliated charity.
It takes more than great perks to be voted a best place to work more than 150 times. Insperity backs its commitment to work-life balance with a full suite of family-friendly benefits. In addition to a standout program that includes health, dental and vision coverage, Insperity offers 19 days of paid time off, a flexible work structure, plus adoption assistance. Employees are rewarded for brushing up on job-related skills with tuition reimbursement and bonus pay for completion of certification programs. To help staff connect with the community, Insperity doles out 12 paid volunteer hours per quarter, and the company matches eligible charitable donations.
Colorado’s largest locally owned and operated public accounting firm caters to clients by keeping its staff of 180 fully engrossed. “We’re only successful because of our people,” says Stacey Duke, managing partner and president. “So we design programs that keep our people engaged.” ACM’s “people committee” looks at internal issues to continually evaluate the firm’s programs and benefits. As part of its health care benefits, employees have free access to a teladoc service (HealthiestYou). ACM’s PTO vacation payout program allows team members to turn vacation days into cash to finance fabulous vacations. During busy seasons, ACM’s “fun committee” eases the monotony with on-site baristas, chair massages and more.
