In its 32nd year, ColoradoBiz's Top Company honors the Colorado companies that have drive, determination, a vision and a plan and are ultimately making the state a better place to live and work. These two companies – one winner and one finalist – represent the 2019 Top Companies in Construction and Engineering.

WINNER

Lifetime Windows & Siding

Denver

You could say the company name says it all: The focal point of Lifetime Windows and Sidings’ commitment to service is its lifetime warranty on all labor and materials, transferable from one owner to the next. Founders Peter Svedin and Jason Lewis built Lifetime on exceptional products, excellent service and good value, along with a partnership with Marvin windows and James Hardie siding.

“Our guiding philosophy has always been ‘Quality before Quantity,’” Svedin says. “We want all our customers to be completely satisfied with the products and services they have purchased from us. We also want them to have an exceptional experience.”

Lifetime believes one key to its success is a positive company culture, including teamwork, facilitating social interaction and having a clear, open line of communication between management and employees. The company founders set the tone, with an emphasis on integrity, respect, innovation and continuous improvement.

“We hire people who view the world with a ‘glass half full’ perspective,” Svedin says. “Our team members are creative, motivated and want to make the world a better place. We encourage everyone on our team to present their ideas in an environment that is non-judgmental and that celebrates innovation. We get exceptional results from our employees because our work environment is open, inclusive and encourages work-life balance.”

Lifetime holds two to three employee events each year, such as sporting events, department outings, family gatherings and holiday parties, to bring the team together and celebrate company achievements.

Lifetime has made a substantial, ongoing commitment to the Stout Street Foundation, which provides services and support to help addicts and alcoholics reclaim their lives. The company has provided jobs for 30 Stout Street graduates, which it counts among its highest-performing and most loyal employees.

FINALIST

Walls by Design

Denver

In an unsexy and low-tech business, Walls by Design has elevated the painting experience for Colorado homeowners with online scheduling, a lifetime warranty, free annual touch-ups and complimentary color design with every project. It has plans to double its current number of teams of painters, about 80% of whom are actual artists. The company’s internal apprenticeship program helps them move into lead positions within a few months. The company contributes to nonprofits including Make-A-Wish, The Cancer League of Colorado, Young Life, Boys and Girls Clubs of Colorado and Tennyson Center for Children, among others.
