Top Co Amp Roadway3
Winner: Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck

In its 34th year, ColoradoBiz‘s Top Company honors the Colorado companies that have drive, determination, a vision and a plan and are ultimately making the state a better place to live and work. These three companies – one winner and two finalists–represent the 2021 Top Companies in Professional Services.

WINNER

Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck

Denver

Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck began with three University of Colorado Law School graduates who decided to start a law firm. It now includes nearly 600 professionals in 12 offices across the country. As one of the top law firms in Denver and the largest lobbying practice based on federal lobbying revenue in the nation, today Brownstein is one of the state’s leading companies with an unrivaled list of clients and achievements.

In the past year, the pandemic had an immense impact on everyone. Brownstein had an instrumental role in helping shape the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) that President Biden signed into law, and Brownstein worked with its clients to comply with regulations that were changing daily. Among the clients Brownstein helped secure funding for were tribal governments, towns and cities, child-care providers, payroll support for the airline industry, new federal COVID-19 testing capacities, rural hospitals, home- and community-based service providers as well as eligibility for Shuttered Venue Operators (SVO) to apply for both PPP loans and SVO grants.

While Brownstein’s professional contributions to the state of Colorado and across the country are noteworthy, its commitment to the local community is just as significant. The firm’s founders, Norm Brownstein, Steve Farber and Jack Hyatt, set out 53 years ago to start a firm built on a commitment to its community. Not only did they dedicate their time and talents to a multitude of civic and nonprofit organizations, but the founders ensured that a commitment to giving back to the civic and nonprofit organizations where the firm operates and its employees live and work has been deeply woven into the firm’s culture. As a tribute to Steve, who passed away last year, Brownstein will continue to carry his legacy forward through community support and involvement. To do so, the firm made a $40,000 donation in honor of Steve to Denver’s North High School Alumni Foundation for a scholarship program. This created an annual scholarship in perpetuity to be awarded to a different high school senior each year. The first recipient, Louisa Wilson, was selected this spring to receive the scholarship.
