Top Company Awards 2019
The 32nd annual Top Company honors those that put people first
So, What Makes a 2019 Top Company?
Drive, certainly. Determination to persevere in good times and bad, to embrace the inevitable challenges — to welcome them as opportunities, even. A vision. A plan. And maybe a dash or two of luck.
This year, the judging panel of business leaders and editors had a record 16 categories and 49 finalists to consider, after nominations were winnowed down for ColoradoBiz by Deloitte. We scrutinized achievements, private financial data, challenges overcome and philanthropic pursuits, carefully creating a whole picture of each finalist before making our selection, which often proved difficult with such stellar choices.
In the end, for the judges, it always came down to our criteria of outstanding achievement, financial performance and community involvement.
But ask any of the folks at the successful enterprises that make up our 32nd Annual Top Company class the factor that puts them above the rest, and they’ll tell you it all comes down to one thing.
Kaj Gronholm, CEO of winner Woodridge Software, put it this way:
“It’s our people,” he says. “We start by giving our team members a great place to work and interesting problems to work on. By putting our team first, our clients reap the benefits.”
